Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our goal in the Lafayette School Corporation is educate every student to the best of their ability. Not all students learn in the same way, so it is up to us to find varying ways to connect with the myriad learning styles in our classrooms.

We are constantly implementing new and different ways of reaching our students. We have Oakland Academy, which offers an alternative high school experience for students who feel that a large, bustling high school is too overwhelming. We offer a balanced calendar at Oakland Elementary, which offers a longer calendar year but also offers longer fall and spring breaks. Two of our elementary schools – Glen Acres and now, Earhart – offer onsite preschool. And Edgelea has our high-ability classrooms, giving that group of students the extra push they need.

This year, we are pleased to be able to help parents by providing free school supplies to all students in grades K-8. We are especially pleased to be able to offer free breakfast and lunch to all our students. We know that children who are getting proper nutrition are better able to perform in the classroom. Thus, with funding from the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), we are pleased to offer these meals to all our students.

We are constantly thinking of innovative ways to interact with your children in the classroom. And we want parents and the community to be involved, to be engaged. If you have questions or concerns, let us know. You are always welcome to visit our schools, to the engagement and learning that is happening in all 12 of our buildings, every day of the week.

From our academic offerings to our sports and extracurriculars, we want every student to feels as if they pare part of the larger Broncho family. We will do everything within or power to help every child succeed.

Sincerely,

Les L. Huddle
