The Reading Curriculum at Miller

•  Based on current research and best practice

•  Explicit and systematic

•  Based on the 5 components of reading:  Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension

•  Designed to prevent reading difficulty through ongoing progress monitoring and timely intervention (STAR)

•  Delivered within whole group and small group instruction

•  Includes opportunities for advanced reading instruction

•  Follows the Miller Curriculum Calendar and is fully integrated with the Indiana Academic Standards at each grade level.

The Mathematics Curriculum at Miller

•  Based on NCTM research and best practice

•  Includes a variety of approaches (manipulatives, mental math, problem solving) to build mastery

•  Designed to prevent difficulty in mastering Mathematics through ongoing assessment and timely intervention (Math Success)

•  Delivered within whole group and small group instruction

•  Includes opportunities for advanced mathematics instruction
