Astronomy at Jefferson High School

The Jefferson High School Planetarium is the home of Jefferson's Astronomy Course. Students enrolled in the course learn fundamental and advanced astronomy topics.

Course Description:

A great deal of attention is paid to seasonal constellations and Celestial Coordinates throughout the course, such that students will know nearly half of the constellations (of which there are 88) and the season in which they may be found.

 

Students learn about the basic movements of the Earth and Moon through space, as well as the mechanics of the Solar System. The origin of the Solar System, Earth, and the entire Universe are studied in great depth, as well.
